I'm Joan......... fondly known as Joanie or Joaniebolognie by my family! ...Get it, Full of Bolognie!!!Ahhhhhh!
I live in a small rural town in Illinois with my husband, Michael, our 3 kids (Justin 19, Connor 17, Lauren 14), my 83 yr old mother-in-law Eunice, our sweet poochie Vinny and a smelly bunny, Star.
My dear mother, Rita, had also lived with us for the past 10 years, but passed away this Christmas Eve. She is dearly missed!
NOW...I bet you're asking yourself... 2 Moms? What is she crazy?
YEP! We are!

But...they each have their own in-law apartment attached to our home! I'm their care-giver & chaffeur. They have both been a blessing & a burden throughout the past 10 years...yet we wouldn't have had it any other way!
I also spend my days as a Personal Home Aide for the sweetest 9 year old girl. Shayla was born with Mitochondrial Disease...it is severe & fatal. I have been with Shay now for 5 years and I have fallen in love with her!
I AM....
out-going, loyal, friendly, funny, caring, sensative, creative, strong-willed, talkative, bitchy, honest (honest enough to admit that I can be Bitchy!), grateful.I LOVE....
my husband (most of the time), my kids, Scrapbooking,
reading romance & murder novels, gardening, shopping,
Reese's peanut butter cups, cheese popcorn, scrapping with friends, watching NCIS & Criminal Minds, volunteering.
I MISS...
my Mom, my son Justin who's away at the Univ of Louisville, warm weather (we are in the midst of Blizzard 2011), using the barbeque grill, monthly Scrapbooking Crops with friends.

Baloney - as far as I know, is used in the US to refer to a sausage. The Arrogant Frog (my spouse) calls nonsense things "a load of balloonies" - he fabricated that expression (I guess) out of baloney+balloons. So it was nice to see your blog title. My grandmother past away in May of 2010 and she lived with us since I was born and I helped my mom take care of her the past year (she had colon cancer) which was very tough so I can relate but like you said I wouldn't have had it any other way!

Hey Joanie!! I'm finally here! I'm sorry it's taken me sooooo long to get her. I'm apparently a very long winded blogger (I've discovered this as I've read the short but sweet posts so far) Whew!! the OWOH has been a lot of reading... fun, but a whole lot and it has taken over every free moment of my life! Sheeesh. My husband thinks I've lost it. Maybe I have, but I'm having a blast!
I just loved your post for the OWOH. It is great to learn more about somebody, especially if you think you'd get along great with that somebody! I think it's great that you are open hearted. It truly shows through you taking in your MIL and your dear mother (God rest her soul) and taking care of little Shay. Your family looks so happy, I'm sure it's because of the "hub" of the home... You!
I am so sorry that you've lost your mother, on Christmas Eve no less. I often wonder if my mom is missing me as much as I miss her, too.
